Iran, the United States, and the Israeli regime agreed on a temporary two-week ceasefire with Pakistan’s mediation. However, on the very first day, the Zionist regime, following its usual pattern, violated the ceasefire by carrying out attacks at several sites in Iran and Lebanon, endangering the ceasefire plan. Global and regional observers have strongly condemned this act by the Zionist regime and consider punishment to be Iran’s right.
Shamshad Ahmad Khan, former Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan, spoke to Mehr News correspondent about the Zionist regime’s violation of the ceasefire and the responsibilities of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He said, “Obviously, if he (the Prime Minister) is engaged in diplomacy, he must fully fulfill his responsibility.”
He added, “Unfortunately, we are also part of the ‘Trump's [Board of] Peace’ in Gaza, while Israel continues its actions against Palestinians and has now expanded its scope to Lebanon. This requires those playing mediation roles to step in. Unfortunately, the problem is that there is no obstacle for Israel. On the other hand, everyone knows Trump constantly changes his mind; he could change his decision at any moment. I cannot understand how he agreed to a ceasefire. It is quite possible that within the next day or two, he will change his mind again and resume attacks on Iran. So I don’t think everything is finalized.”
The former Pakistani representative to the United Nations said, “Iran’s position is very strong. Two days later, when the Iranian and American delegations meet, real negotiations will take place. At that stage, our Prime Minister will no longer have a role. Currently, only a temporary ceasefire is in place, and we must see what America’s intention is and how Iran exercises its decisive will.”
Responding to a question about Trump agreeing to the ceasefire, he said, “Trump started the war at Israel’s request. This has been his path since his first presidential term. He canceled the agreement reached during Obama’s term regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Netanyahu and Trump are products of Epstein. That is why he started the war against Iran at Netanyahu’s behest, but Iran put both America and Israel under severe pressure. Now they are confused. Israel is entangled in Lebanon, and domestic pressure on Trump has increased to the point that neither Europe nor any other global power is supporting him. He is alone in the world and isolated within his own country. In America, 9 million people took to the streets against him. This pressure led him toward a ceasefire. If the war with Iran continues, he will not even be able to complete his presidential term.”
Regarding renewed Zionist regime attacks on Iran and Lebanon, the former Pakistani official said, “In a ceasefire, everything is clear; it is not that each party can change things arbitrarily. In this ceasefire, Israel is fully committed as one party, but it is openly violating it and must be punished. Only through this can this process be ended, because if Israel acts as it pleases, it is no longer a ceasefire. Israel is fully part of the ceasefire and must abide by it.”
